Prince Henry The Navigator
Portugal lead the way in navigating the West African coast and Prince Henry The Navigator set up a school where he subsidized different fields who were interested in exploration. This included astronomers, ship builders, navigators, compass builders, and people who could create devices for making better ships, and more sea worthy ships.
People came from all over to attend Prince Henry's school and to earn some money, too. Italy supplied several students but they came from as far away as Arabia, too.
Here is a short video I made to help you remember Portugal leading The Age Of Exploration.

CAHSEE Is Today and Tomorrow
What is the CAHSEE test? It is the California High School Exit Exam. Today is the English part and tomorrow is the Math part. Plan on spending at least 3 to 4 hours at school to take the test. It is not timed so relax and take your time.
Be sure to read the questions and know what they want you to do before you choose your answer. There is no hurry to take this test since no one gets out early. You will be there until the last person finishes.
Bring water to drink so you stay hydrated during the test and have some sort of protein for breakfast for brain power.
See you there! We have room assignments at the main entrance. My students are in Room 23 unless you were notified that you are testing in a different room today.
Remember we are giving away season passes to Sea World to those who score 380 or over on both parts! When you pass both parts with 350 or above you get a movie day.
Do your best!

US History Unit 3 With Teddy Roosevelt
This is a great test review with Barstow teacher and facilitator, Bill Lopez, playing the part of Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt was the 26th President in the USA. He was responsible for weakening the big monopolies in the country as well as the Panama Canal construction.
There are only 4 US Presidents featured on Mt. Rushmore and Teddy Roosevelt shares the spotlight with Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Tune in to find out why.
